| Been lurking on this site for a while. Kudos on the refresh, looks good.
I've got 2 Jeeps, a ZJ and an XJ (see for sale!).
My daily driver is a 98 Grand Cherokee Limited, and I love everything about it, except the t-case. The XJ was my first, stopped driving it when I thought I heard a rod knock, bought the ZJ, then found out the knock was just a cracked flex plate. Now it just sits. Tell your friends about it!
I'm a complete offroad noob. I want to change that. Been meaning to get out to DTOR for months but I work 6 days a week and Sundays are filled with honeydo's and the like. Is it possible to have a great time there in a stock ZJ?
I hope to have a free Sunday soon and meet up with some of you at DTOR.

| welcome to the site glad you like the new look and software. i've definitely put alot of hours into it lol. it's awesome to finally see someone else with a zj. i'm sure i can help with about anything you need to know about it man. speaking of that, what is it you don't like about your t-case? and you can definitely have some fun at dtor with a stock zj. theres a large variety of trails out there, and plenty of more mild ones your zj can handle. plently of harder ones too that can lead you to a broken rearend lol | |

| Two words on the Tcase - Viscous Coupling. I believe its an NP242. Full time 4wd. I have been tempted to yank the 231 out of my XJ but its more work than I have time for and really don't want to have the XJ in a non running condition.
I am going to shoot for DTOR on the 18th, this sunday is already taken :p
FYI, I work for a car dealer and have wholesale accounts with tons of suppliers, including a place that does only transmission and driveline parts. I can get gears and kits for that 8.8. Gotta make sure the boss says its ok first though.

| Hey man, welcome. Hope you can find some stuff useful on this growing sight. I'm the guy that offeredto buy your XJ on payments, cause I'm in kuwait. But you never got back with me. Me and my friends are going to try to hit DTOR at least once when I come home on leave in may. I would like to see some trail reports on the place as more people get the chance to go until then. Again, welcome to the sight hope you stick with it and help it grow. | |

| Sorry I never got back with you. I haven't been very active in trying to sell it, every once in a while I remember to refresh the ad on CL and I get a ton of emails but half the time its someone trying to trade dirt bikes or computers for it. The most common is "do you still have it" I'll reply and get nothing after that. I've only had 2 people actually come see it.
Who knows, I might still have it when you get back.

| If its all time awd then you have the 249. They're horrible about binding up. U want either a 231 or 242. I have a friend with a 242 laying in his garage, he might sell it | |

| FINALLY hit DTOR today!!! In my 98 ZJ Limited... Pretty sure we were the only ones riding around on leather seats with the A/C on! Had a blast. didn't really go on any trails as it they were too muddy for my noobie tastes and I didn't want to get stuck or roll off a cliff. Had my wife, 11 yr old, and 3 yr old with me. We had a ton of fun in the mud puts near the tire mound. Word of advice I forgot about.. the "puddles" are DEEP... Rolled in the water, next thing I know the bottom drops out! Shortly after, engine quits! Wife gives me a death stare... what can ya do but laugh... Had my 11 yr old climb out the window and find someone to help, lol! BIG thanks to the folks who pulled me out!!!! (red XJ and an explorer) Before I go back, I will definitely need to put some hooks and tow points on my jeep. The exhaust hanger on the back worked, this time, lol. | |

| Does Canmer have a website?? I'll look to check it out. Still sorting out my jeep after that adventure... Need to change some fluids and make sure no permanent damage was done... Already found my exhaust hanger tweaked pretty bad and tailpipe crushed... Trans was acting up (not wanting to start in 1st gear when in D) but I haven't really driven it since. And another pic someone took and posted on DTOR's facebook.. | |

Oh how much I have learned since then... It is a NP249. That Jeep is gone now though. Replaced with a 98 5.9 Limited, which also has the NP249. One of these days, I will swap in an NP242 though.

231, 242, and 249 are all a beast but the 249's are just problematic and you don't have the option of 2 wheel. the 242 remains my favorite for a DD. for just a trail rig i'd choose the 231

| I agree, for DD 249 not great, pull the front DS and its perfect It has proven itself quite a capable offroader case | |
