I was up on the top of my TJ and noticed that I have a wear mark over one of my bows. My top is in relatively good shape. I have been on some of the tuner forums and heard of a product called Plasti Dip. They use it for their wheels and body panels. Its a liquid rubber coating in a spray paint can. I have recently started to use it on my dash and surrounds. I also blacked out the chrome head light surrounds. It's protective qualities are excellent. If you apply a couple of coats, you are able to peel it off without any damage. It's a great product.

So now back to the soft top...
The wear mark hasn't gone all the way through, so it doesn't leak, YET. I plan on spraying it with the Plasti Dip to seal the wear mark. This stuff is durable, doesn't dis-color, and maintains its flexibility. I think it should hold up fine.

Oh by the way... It comes in spray paint cans and gallons. It can be sprayed by the gallon with a Wagner power sprayer. You can change your body color in a matter of a coupe hours or so. You can purchase the spray cans at Lowes, but the gallons have to be ordered over the net. Just a little FYI. Smile

Try it!

I might have to get a can of that stuff just to play with it...

Plasti Dip rocks... It comes in a lot of different colors. Google it and it should open a while different world of changing your ride different colors cheaply. Smile

It's about $65 or $70 a gallon.

Easy enough. You should be able to find whole kits there.

Type in Plasti Dip in the search bar. They have all kinds of colors there in the spray paint cans, 1 and 5 gallon cans.

That guy from Dipyourcar has a lot of instructional videos on YouTube. Very good info and informative. Worth checking out.

Maybe think of it as a really really thick coat of wax... Hopefully that gets scratched off before it gets to the paint/primer/bedlinermaterialofchoice/metal
