K10 Starter Problem

Anybody have a problem with the starter twisting on a high compression motor before. My truck has a 383 stroker motor in it and the starter keeps jamming. I have to climb under it unbolt it and turn the flywheel and then bolt it back up. Really annoying. How do I fix this? Will shimming it work?

it almost sounds like its not fully engaging on the flywheel, or its the wrong starter.

does it have the brace from the back of the starter to the side of the block alot of people leave them off not knowing any better

thats the wrong starter did the same thing one my 383 race motor

The nose cone bushing sound wore out to me. Used to do that on my 454 all the time. wore the boshing out by not shimming the starter when first put on.
