PostSubject: Grand-er Cherokee   26th January 2012, 3:13 pm

I've done wayyyy to much to this rig to go back and talk about and find pics of, so I'm just gonna post a few recent pics and list some past modifications and what my plans are for the future.

Here's the 2 most recent pics i have of it, but there pretty old. Hopefully I'll have some new ones pretty soon.

So here's some of what's done to it already

-3.5" V8 rubicon express lift springs(i have the 4.0 so it gives me an extra 1" in the front)
-1" spacer in the rear(for a total of 4.5" of lift)
-rancho shocks
-american racing D series 15" wheels
-32x10.50 super swamper tsl's
-custom transfer case mounts(dropped 1.5")
-heavy duty adjustable tracking arms
-heavy duty IRO tie rod
-rancho steering stabilizer
-02 grand cherokee knuckle/brake swap w/ akebono calipers
-front end/radiator skid
-transfer case skid
-gas tank skid
-custom rocker rails
-custom bolt on/off tube doors
-carpet removed/rhino lined
-carr light bar w/ 4 500 watt lights
-roof rack
-aluminum valve cover
-cold air intake
-removed a/c componets
and a bunch more crap

future mods
-8.8 rearend
-adjustable control arms
-2" spacers
-4.10 gears
-chrome diff covers
-lube locker reusable diff gaskets
-35's

it definitely used to be my dd but the past 6 months or so it's been really hard to call it a daily anymore. right now it just sits in the driveway with all the teeth sheered off the ring and pinion, i've got a ford 8.8 here in the garage and just about everything i need for the swap but i still need gears for the front and rear and i'll probably just wind up buying a weld on bracket kit for the 8.8 instead of trying to cut and save the old ones.

i also need to get an alignment on the front. i'd love to get it back to my daily driver but it becomes more of a trail rig all the time lol

well i went and bought a hp30 for the front this morning. out of an xj 4 cyl so it already has 4.10's which is what i've been looking for. now just to re gear my 8.8, figure out what i'm gonna do about mounting brackets on the 8.8 and then put all my new parts on

You can ask anyone that knows me... I am not much on Barbie machines. BUT if I were to own a Jeep it would be a cherokee. The 8.8 will be a great upgrade, I hope you got one with disks on it. I get a kick out of your up and coming mod.... chrome diff covers.... Just remember bubba, chrome don't get you home! I suggest some 3/16th steel covers... they'll hold up to the rocks and abuse your likely to see on the trails.
What are you going to do with your d30 front?

yea man i like wranglers, they're cool in there own way but i think xj's and zj's are so much cooler.

but yea i made sure to get an 8.8 with disc brakes, and i just bought chrome diff covers because the 8.8 cover almost had a hole rusted in it and they were cheap and they're at least 3/16th's thick. i'm probably gonna buy or make diff skids in the future.

and i'm not sure what i'm going to do with the front axle yet, probably sell it i can find anyone interested in it

idk man, i've still got gears and install kit to buy for the 8.8 and a bracket kit. and i gotta find a radiator. still about $700 or so worth of parts left to buy and it's kinda hard with being laid off of work lol. i've been helping a buddy of mine do tree work, so my budget just depends on when i can work and how much i make. but once i start my normal job back towards the end of this month then i should be able to start moving alot quicker on it.

so i'm kinda stalled on fixing my jeep now, i've decided to finally just give it up and buy a new daily driver and just use the jeep as a trail rig. so now i'm saving for a good truck, but on the bright side then i'll just be able to buy a trailer and use the truck as my tow rig. i'll be happy to have a new truck but on the other hand i'm pretty bummed the jeep won't be fixed for a while No

I have almost everything I need but I still don't have brackets for the 8.8 plus I don't have my 4.10's setup in it yet. And my plans were to add 2" coil spacers when I did it with my new adjustable 4 link and I probably am gonna need longer driveshafts. Then once that's done I would need bigger tires. So I decided to just hold off till this winter or something to swap everything.
