PostSubject: warn winch remote   26th January 2012, 3:30 am

Well good news...for me...lol I recently picked up a warn 8274 winch complete and ready to use!...BUt the remote is broke..

looking over the remote

the most i can prove is the toggle dont work...hell its broke. I contected warn.com web site and ask them if there was a replacement toggle switch or how to take a sealed remote apart. took 1 day and they responded with no fix, just buy a new updated remote. Of course not what i wanted to hear so now i have a broken no good remote. I all so found a wireing diagram that was very simply 3 wires for the remote i figure it cant be that bad on the inside of the remote.
The only way in to the remote was through the hard rubber then to the plasic i prayed out of the rubber to find the plan old toggle switch and a basic 3 way switch.

So the next thing i will try is buy a toggle switch to match and see if i can have a working remote!

i always just hard wire a three way switch (useally a old power window or door lock ) in and mount it right in the dash so you can work the winch right from the seat with out haveing the remote wire ran across the hood. and you can still plug in the remote if you need to use it from out side the drivers seat.
