PostSubject: Home made Dana 30 differential skid   24th September 2012, 5:57 pm

So I'm not really sure what brought upon this idea but one night this design for a differential skid just popped in my head so I built it. It's a pretty simple design but effective.

So I started with a left over D30 cover I had from an axle swap or somewhere(don't remember lol).

First thing I did was basically cut the cover in half.

So then I took a grinder and cut off wheel and went around the edge of the cover where it starts to transition and buldge for the gears.

Here's what you wind up with.

I then repeated the process with the opposite side. And also cut about an inch off each side where the cover is straight.

So then I took my two peices and welded them together at about a 90 degree angle(just kinda eyeballed it)

Then I took some flat stock i had lying around and welded ribs on there for skids

About 3 coats of truck bed liner

3 more coats of white on top of the truck bed liner and then installed
