| First topic message reminder :Ya, I'm gonna build it. (Updated 2/18/13) For those who don't know, the 5.9 Limited was a 1 year only deal. Only 15,000 were made. It included the high output 5.9l v8 (premium gas only), 46RE (i think) trans, D30 Front and D44a Rear with LSD, NP249 Tcase, Full set of skid plates underneath, recovery hooks, functional louvers on the hood to vent heat, electric only fan (a first for GC's), a redesigned roof rack, and a super cherry interior including real calf skin leather on the seats, leather trim on door panels, extra wood grain trim around the shifter, and 10 speakers for the tunes (the extra speakers mounted on a soundbar on the roof of the cargo area). Right now its stock with a 2" BB lift. Sitting on 225/70/16 road tires. 225/75/16 Goodyear Wranger MT/R's. This will probably be more of a question and answer thread for a while until I can build up some funds to buy needed parts. My current plans are: 2" Spacer lift DONE 2/18/13, larger tires, hopefully 265/75/16 will fit with that lift NP242 swap. The 249 VC is shot and has to go! (Or maybe, fix the 249, its really not a bad tcase)Keeping the 249, has proved itself offroad. Will have to put a new VC in it soon though. Replace the speakers (most are blown) Need my tunes. Far far future plans may include a larger lift, custom roof carrier w/ light bar, steel bumpers w/ winch (more lights), steel rocker rails, and who knows... Day 1 (sitting next to my old ZJ - 98 4.0 Limited) 2/18/13

| I'm gonna need those tires sooner than later. If we get that snow I'm screwed, the 31's on the rear look like racing slicks.

| You could always go ahead and put them on the rear since you've only got 2wd anyway. They probably won't rub on the rear just the front | |

| As soon as I get the chance, 2 of them are getting mounted. Will try them on the front and if there aren't any major issues I'll have all 4 mounted. | |

if you need a place to mount them for cheap, try ken's a.k.a. Road King on dixie hwy. he only charges $7 a piece mounted and balanced, cheapest i know of in town. and sometimes i've taken him more than one set to do at a time and he'll hook me up and only charge me like $40-50 for all of them

| A little update. Wanted to get 2 tires mounted to put on the back due to the incoming snow (which is now here). Stopped at a shop close to my house. I brought 3 tires with me in case there was a problem with one of them (hey, they are used). Well, the kid takes the blown tire off the wheel and mounts one of the 265's. Then they call me over and he says "this tire has a broken belt, feel this" There is a very very very slight rise in the tread at one spot. So I tell him thats why I brought the 3rd tire. He goes on his merry way. I come back a little later and he is putting 2 of the 265's back in my car??? He then pulls it out and parks it. I go to pay (the place is literally closing). I pay for 2 mount and balances + 1 disposal. The kid comes in and goes "hey, I only got 1 mounted". I was like wtf. My Jeep has a limited slip so needs to run same diameter tires side to side, I made him put the bald 31 back on. Stupid kid starts taking the good tire he just mounted off the niner wheel. again wtf.
All in all, I left with the same tires on that I arrived with and one 265 mounted on a niner wheel.
I'm not sure the other ones are "broken" like he said. Tires aren't all perfectly round.
I don't want to go back there, especially because they want $10 to mount and $8.50 to balance, but they are the closest place by a long shot.
Stupid safety.

| Well, made a trip out to Shelbyville and got the other tire mounted, so now I have tread in the rear and all my wheels match. The tire took a lot of weight but balanced out good enough for the rear. Didn't notice any vibes while driving so all good. | |

| This wheel still has Interlake mud on it. And yes, one side has the white letters out and the other doesn't. | |

| Tires are working a lot better, work pretty good in the snow and in some mud. One is a little but lumpy but not really noticeable. But now I'm getting a wobble in the steering wheel and its pulling harder to the left than it has in the past. Will have to get under there and check things out. Hoping its just a tie rod end, then again, could be one of the front tires, ugh.

| Found my wobble. Front left tire is shot. I was getting sick of the wobble, no way the rear tires were causing it. Parked and turned wheels all the way to the left so I could get a good look at the tread, sure enough, the front left is super lumpy, definitely a broken belt in there. Hoping to source a new set of tires this Monday. Will update when it happens.

| Since the tire episode, I have also done some small fixes, like fix the light switch so my dash lights don't randomly dim and the "auto" feature works. Replaced some burned out bulbs too.
I secured a deal for a 2" BB lift off a TJ. Everything should work except the rear shocks. Plans are to swap in the "new" front axle and install the lift in the next 2-4 weeks.

Definitely do the BJ's while you're at it. They're just a PITA to do 3 weeks afterwards, ask me how I know...You have my number, right? Just let me know.

| Picking up a 2" (maybe 2.5") BB lift tomorrow. Its coming off a TJ, I'm 99% sure the pucks will work but not so sure about the rear shocks. May just leave stockers on for now, the fronts should work no problem. Its a rancho kit, coming with all 4 pucks, shocks, and stabilizer. Gonna start gathering parts for the new axle too. Upper bushings for sure, 50/50 on ball joints, not sure if I'll have time as I don't see a way to do 'em until the axle is bolted to the car, no way I'm getting the axle shafts out with the axle loose. Will replace the axle shafts and will probably throw new brakes on while I'm at it. After I get the lift stuff I plan on getting back in the garage with more degreaser and a wire brush to clean off the axle, maybe shoot with some paint. Got access to a full service shop (no lift though, but heated + air tools). Not sure if I can have company but should have at least 1 person helping me. Planning on doing this either a week from Saturday or the week after that. Can't wait! | |
